Description
You're definitely lost now. The sprawling green fields and blue skies that seemed only moments ago to carry on for miles and miles have now turned into nothing but mist and darkness. The skies have gone grey and a sinister fog lays across everything, making it difficult to see too far ahead. The trees are thin and sparse, dark and leafless, the branches like black fingers clinging at the darkening sky. Your feet are sinking a little farther into the damp earth with every step forward, like the very ground itself is starting to sink, and pull you down into it. The air smells... almost foul. Like something is rotting not too far form where you are. And maybe it's just your imagination, but... you could swear you feel something watching you.
A small shiver runs down your spine as you realize you've stumbled across the one place in FSS you were warned you shouldn't go to; the swamps. Now if only you could remember why you were supposed to avoid this place... Other than it just being cold and creepy. But within a very short time you decide you've already had enough of wet socks and seeing your breath steam up in front of you, and you decide to head back the other direction. Obviously this shortcut was a bad idea.
As you turn around, you jump and just barely manage to hold down a yelp of fright as you realize there's something standing there behind you in the mist. The fog is too thick and it's just far enough back that you can't make out any details, but by the size and shape of it, you recognize it as a horse. You breath a little sigh of relief. If one of the horses is this far out, maybe you aren't as far from the stables as you thought.
The horse stands deathly still though, and before you can even think of moving forward, a voice whispers in the back of your mind ... "Are you lost?"
You spin around, but there's no one there. You turn back towards the horse standing a ways back in the fog. It tilts it's head and you realize it seems to have antlers. You take a little step back from it. The voice echos again. "Are you?"
You aren't sure if you should answer. You're not even sure if it's the horse that's speaking. There isn't an actual voice, it's more like a thought that's not your own.
A breeze picks up and although it's cold, for a brief moment it disperses a bit of the fog in front of you, and you finally get a better look at the horse. A huge, looming thing, dark, with six legs and large crimson antlers. The mane and tail look like... muddy water? and the face.... It doesn't have one. It's just a sickly grinning skull.
Before you can say anything, there's the sound of sloshing hoofsteps in the soft wet earth behind you. You spin around and this time you do let out a startled shout as you see not one or two, but a multitude of horses behind you. Nearly all of them dark, some without faces, some with antlers, nearly all of them with liquid-like manes and tails. And none of them looks very friendly.
As the cold voice enters your mind again, you turn to face the first horse. It's now much, much closer to you, tilting it's skull-like head, steam rising from between it's exposed teeth as it exhales... laughing?
"I thought so."

Don't get lost in the swamps.
The staff is getting tired of cleaning up after Shade and his brood.
SO IT TOOK ME ALL DAY TO FINISH THIS.
BUT FINISH IT I DID.
I've been working on this off and on for the better part of... 6 months?? X__X sheesh.
I just REALLY had an urge to finish it today, so. \o/ There. Done.
Mind you, this isn't all of Shade's children/grandchildren. Just the ones I own. XP
In (somekindof) order we have Born In The Dark (Shade), Born To Fall, Gingivitis, Root Canal, Dark Divinity, Bubblegum Bones In The Dark, Morgan, Riddles In The Dark, Born In The Melting Pot, and Shadow's Fall.
